Lofjätåsens Fäbod

Show map

Lofjätåsens pasture is located in Städjan-Nipfjället nature reserve.

We run summer pasture with cows and goats. The animals are milked by hand and they are the fjös at night. The milk is processed in place of which products are eaten on the spot while some cheese is stored on. Products that we do on summer pasture is blah pasture cheese, goat cheese, mixed cheese, Oldman cheese, dravle, frycheese, spreadable cheese (lactique), small cheese, whey cheese and butter. We usually also have with us, smoked meats from our own animals. SMOKE-smoked goat meat from pasture Lofjätåsens won gold at the Championships in food craftsmanship 2008th

On the wall are mountain cabin, fjös, störrös / firahouse, cold stores and drive shed. The cold store runs a cold source in a stream that led into a wooden chest and out again to the tap. The system works well as a refrigerator for milk and other food when the water at a temperature of 4 degrees.

We organize mountain courses and mountain days. For other visits, we apply a tradition that dates far back and still lives on in places. When you visit us takes with it something that we do not manufacture in the summer farm. It can be a daily newspaper, fresh fruit or vegetables and more. In return we will tell you about life up here and you get a taste of what is produced here. If you want to be sure that someone is at the summer farm or ask what we need then call first because we are often out with the animals in the land. When you go up do not forget to add a stone to throw victims of a successful summer pasture season and take a break at Suptallen!
